With the change of seasons comes a chance to think about your decor in a new light. Here are some idease that will help give your home the look and feel of fall.
Update Window Treatments. Switching summer's lightweight curtains for heavier drapes keep out drafts and sets an elegant tone that's more appropriate for fall.
Add cozy accessories, such as woven throws, pillows, and tablecloths to lend a hint of warmth to the room. Choose fabrics with rich hues (everygreens and midnight blue) and luxerious velvets (velvet, damask, and cashmere).
Cover bare floors with rugs. Floor coverings in elaborate patterns give rooms a mored dressed up feeling.
Change your lampshade. Slightly formal styles are more fitting for colder months.
Order trees and shrubs now, and plant them before the ground freezes.
Dress beds in season-appropriate linens. Air out down comforters and woolen blankets after removing them from storage.
When you give walls a fresh coat of paint, save any leftover for future touchups.
Before shopping for antiques or furniture, measure the spaces where your purchases might be placed. Write the dimensions on a slip of paper, and carry it in your wallet or purse for ez reference.
